I imagine I'm the last to get my copy, it came yesterday, and on first blush I have to admit I built myself up for the confrontation which is obviously going to happen next issue.
The art wasn't great but it wasn't uber-horrible as implied in some comments I've seen. Coming in for a one shot is going to be hard on any artist. Sure Rage looked a little too big in some panels (where the Spiders were climbing all over him) but he was also kinda big when Darrick was drawing him. He came back to some semblance of a slightly above average but still normal male physique when Caselli was drawing him in Avengers: the Initiative.
Nice to see Decibel back on his feet but for the sake of continuity I would've liked an explanation of how he'd miraculously overcome his injuries from last issue so quickly.
Good to see the team aren't taking NT at face value anymore.
Regarding the safe house, why did the the previous teams need safe houses again? Is this the first time a New Warriors safe house has come up? I have no issue with it but only if there's a reasonable explaination for why it exists. Or perhaps Vance and Donyell were more party to Dwayne's keen sense of preservation for the future than other team members. I did like Vance's little speechifying about how tight they were under Dwayne (despite that the original team argued a hell of a lot and bucked his leadership more than once, lol). Made me pine a bit to read the volume one series again.
I'm not sure I liked Elvin's dialogue but meh, it was only a brief series of panels in the end. How old do you think Elvin is now? I feel, under Slott's writing, Elvin had grown up a little (only a little itty bit mind you) but he's usually more of a hothead than Vance who was leaping and bounding to conclusions in this. :D
I look forward to the confrontation between the two teams but something tells me it's going to be headed off by someone's (probably NT) supermonologue.
